NEW ORLEANS — The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the All-Region honorees for the 2016 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season this week. Haverford's Charlie Marquardt, Jeffrey Ainsley, Graham Peet, and Dylan Verner-Crist were honored with the accolade in the Mideast Region.
To be named All-Region, an athlete must either be ranked in the top-5 of an individual event in the region according to final TFRRS data or be part of a top-3 relay team.
Marquardt took home three nods following his performances in the 1,500 meters, the 800m, and the 5,000m. The Haverford senior ran the fastest 1,500 meters in Division III at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier a week ago. He'll be representing the school at the NCAA Championship later this week.
Ainsley received the accolade based on his performaces in the 110 meter hurdles and decathlon. He narrowly missed qualifying for the NCAA's. Peet and Verner-Crist were honored in the steeplechase and 10,000 meters respectively.
For Marquardt, the NCAA Championship begins on Thursday, May 19. It takes place in Waverly, Iowa and is hosted by Wartburg College. Action continues through the weekend.
