Men's Track & Field Impresses at Ursinus Outdoor Invitational

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. -  The Haverford College men's track & field team continued outdoor action on Saturday at the Ursinus College Outdoor Invitational. The day saw a plethora of top performances from the Fords.

Senior Jacob Gaba took home the victory in the 10,000 meters with a time of 34:17.95. His teammate, Rowan Shigeno, finished right behind him in second place, crossing the line in 35:48.69. The Fords loaded the Steeplechase field with six athletes. Ryan Kredell was the top finisher in the event running 9:31.30. Rounding out the top three finishers were Peter Buckley and Seamus Fraser. Buckley finished second in 9:47.20 while Fraser crossed the finish line in 10:06.70. Luca Ponticello (10:26.10), Sammy Schindel (10:46.70), and Seamus Flannery (11:03.60) also competed in the event. 

In the 1,500 meters, Aaron Bratt finished as the top runner for the Fords with a time of 4:05.05, which was good enough for third place. Miles Colescott was also able to break the 4:06 mark, finishing in fourth with a time of 4:05.47. Peter LaRochelle (4:06.10), Matt Denton (4:06.49), and Amos Karlsen (4:07.34) were also top-ten finishers.

Collecting another victory for the Fords was Jamie Moreland in the 800 meters. The junior crossed the line in first with a blazing time of 1:54.43. His time was slightly off his personal best of 1:53.88. 

In the sprints, the team of Alex Reichard, Jonathan Hill, Amon-Ra Kamit, and Nathan Ma finished third in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 50.98. Hill would also run the 100-meter dash and finished as Haverford's top performer with a top-ten finish in that event. The Sophomore dipped at the line with 11.48 showing on the clock.

Ravi Eaton earned a top-ten finish in the 400 meters after finishing eighth with a time of 52.69, which was good enough for a personal best. In the 200 meters, Hill returned to the track to finish fourth. His time of 22.75 is a collegiate PR for the sophomore. Eaton also competed in the triple jump, finishing in first place. His winning jump of 12.46m (40 feet, 10 inches) came on his third attempt. 

Jacob Foster finished in fifth place in the long jump after leaping 6.14 meters (20 feet, one inch). In the throws, Rasaaq Shittu led the way for the Fords. In the hammer throw, the junior threw 18.97m (62 feet & 2.85 inches). Shittu also threw 9.63m (31 feet & 6 inches) in the shot put. Curys Slavin threw the Javelin, finishing with a mark of 22.45 meters (73 feet, eight inches). 

The Fords will compete again next weekend on Friday, April 15, at the Larry Ellis Invitational in Princeton. The meet is set to begin at 5 p.m. They will follow that meet up with a trip to Widener on Saturday for the Chester Quarry Classic, which starts at 9 a.m.
