CHESTER, Pa. — A strong showing in the 400-meter dash and 1,500 meters highlighted the final day of competition for the Haverford College men's track and field team at the Danny Curran Invitational, hosted by Widener University on Saturday.
In the sprint events, first-year Niko Beros led the Fords in the 100-meter dash, clocking 11.52 seconds to place 64th overall in his outdoor debut. Sophomore Zenas Boamah followed with an 11.76 finish, while first-year Mark Tringas (11.88), senior Nathan Ma (12.19), junior Jonah Hoffmann-Weitsman (12.26), and senior Amon-Ra Kamit (12.82) rounded out Haverford's performances.
First-year Thomas Fendig led the Fords in the event, running 22.72 to take 39th place while
Beros returned to post a 23.14 to place 68th. Senior Vir Goyal (23.48), Hoffmann-Weitsman (personal-best 24.99), and first-year Derek Linden (25.34) also competed in the event.
Fendig continued his strong day in the 400 meters, placing 26th with a time of 49.81. Goyal added a 53.68 finish for 74th, followed by first-years Samuel Lin (54.58) and Linden (56.36).
In the 400-meter hurdles, first-year Nico Greene ran 57.95 to place 18th.
The middle-distance group was led by senior Peter Larochelle in the 1,500 meters, crossing the line in 3:59.18 to claim 11th overall with a new personal best. Fellow senior Reed Solomon finished in 4:03.11 for 19th, while first-year Reef Kirchner (4:26.02) and senior Seawon Park (4:32.80) also contributed solid performances, with Park logging a career-best in the distance.
In the field events, Tringas posted a 6.50-meter long jump (21 feet, 4 inches) to secure 16th place, while senior Nathan Ma recorded a best mark of 5.26 meters (17 feet, 3 inches) for 68th overall.
Haverford will now continue the outdoor track slate on Friday, April 4 as the two-day Ursinus College Track & Field Festival opens in Collegeville. Action on day one is slated to begin at 5 p.m.
