Personal Bests and Program Top-10s Highlight Men's Track & Field at Ursinus

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. — The Haverford College men's track & field team took aim at the program record books on Saturday at the Ursinus College Track & Field Festival on Patterson Field. A solid meet full of personal and season bests helped position the Fords as the second full weekend of action came to a close. 

In the 100 meters, Niko Beros logged a personal-best time of 11.28 to pace the Fords in 15th place overall. The time from Beros matches the 10th-best performance in program history. Zenas Boamah was 36th overall (11.79), while Jonah Hoffmann-Weitsman followed in 60th with a season-best 12.24.

Jason Mayo competed in the discus throw, clearing 31.31 meters (102 feet, eight inches) for 30th and also tossing the javelin 45.79 meters (150 feet, two inches) for 12th overall. Mayo's javelin toss puts him 10th in Haverford program history. In the shot put, Mayo finished 29th with a toss of 10.51 meters (34 feet, 5.75 inches), a new personal best. Amon-Ra Kamit also competed in the shot put, clearing 8.29 meters (27 feet, five inches).

Rookie Mark Tringas cleared 6.23 meters (20 feet, 5.25 inches) in the long jump for ninth overall, while Nathan Ma logged a season-best mark, clearing 5.74 meters (18 feet, 10 inches).

In the 200 meters, Thomas Fendig led a large Haverford contingent in 19th overall, crossing in 22.82. Boamah was 42nd in 23.69, while Vir Goyal took 43rd overall (23.70). Samuel Lin rounded out the sprinters in 24.06. Joey Kim was 18th in the pole vault, clearing 3.26 meters (10 feet, 8.25 inches).

Derek Linden took to the track for the 400 meters, logging a personal-best 55.71 for 48th overall, while Nico Greene competed in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing eighth in 58.15.

Three Haverford runners competed in the 800 meters, as rookie Reef Kirchner paced the grouping with a time of 1:56.88, while senior Reed Solomon crossed 15th in 2:00.07, and Gopal Patel was 42nd in 2:10.27.

The 1,500 meters saw four Haverford runners compete, with Micah Lachman delivering a third-place finish in 4:02.45. Torin Pelton-Flavin was 11th (4:09.66), while Tate Sheehy crossed 40th (4:25.99). Seawon Park added a personal-best mark of 4:31.48 for 48th.

Haverford's 4x100 meter relay squad narrowly missed a spot in the program top 10 with an eighth-place finish in 43.85, while the Fords had two different 4x400 meter relay squads competing in Collegeville. The "A" squad logged a 3:34.17 for 13th overall, while the "B" group was right behind in the same heat, clocking 3:35.58.

Nicky Elias-Gillette took to the track for the steeplechase, finishing third overall in 10:39.5. Rowan Shigeno added another in the 5,000 meters, finishing ninth in 16:08.10, shaving more than eight seconds off his previous best in the distance.

Haverford will next be in action on Friday, April 11, at the two-day Bill Butler Invitational, hosted by West Chester University. Events begin at 4:30 p.m. on Friday and resume at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 12.
