Fords and McDaniel play to scoreless tie

WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Haverford College women's soccer team closed out the Centennial Conference schedule playing to a 0-0 tie versus McDaniel College Saturday afternoon. Despite taking 15 more shots than the home team Haverford could not find the net.

Haverford (12-2-3, 7-2-1) outshot the Green Terror 21-6 in the contest, taking seven in each half and seven combined in both overtime periods. McDaniel (4-12-2, 3-6-1 CC) was held to one shot in the first half and one in both overtimes.

The Fords managed four shots on goal in both halves. In the 81st minute, Allie Chen's shot was saved by Leanne Hollinger. Brittany Baer took a shot four minutes later that Kayleigh Herrick-Reynolds stopped, sending the game into overtime.

Chen attempted three shots in the first extra frame and another in the second. Two were saved, one was blocked and the other sailed high. The Fords took corners at the end of each overtime period. The Scarlet and Black were called for a foul on the first and time ran out before they could get off a shot in the second.

Herrick-Reynolds made three saves on the day while Hollinger had a busy day stopping 11 shots for the Green Terror.

Haverford is the No. 3 seed in the Centennial Conference tournament and will play either Johns Hopkins or Muhlenberg Saturday in the semifinal. If the Mules win their game Saturday evening they will be the No. 1 seed. If they lose Hopkins gets the top seed. Game time will be announced Monday.
