Mighty Fords too much for Mighty Macs

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford women's soccer team remained unbeaten for the season with a 2-0 victory over visiting Immaculata University under a brilliant blue sky at Walton Field on Saturday afternoon.

A first half goal from Erin Dowling in the 13th minute put the Fords (4-0-2) ahead and a Michelle Buonora penalty kick conversion early in the second stanza iced a game that, despite the low score, was controlled by Haverford.

The edge in shots was weighted heavily in the Fords' favor at 28-5 and Haverford controlled the action so decisively that Immaculata (2-3-1) failed to create a single corner kick opportunity compared to 10 opportunities for the home team.

Goalie Kayleigh Herrick-Reynolds, who has yet to lose a game in her first season as the starting Haverford keeper, had one easy save in the first half and wasn't challenged again until the final shot of the game. Her Immaculata counterpart, Jessica Gaburo, registered six saves in taking the loss.

The Fords will hit the road for their next two games starting with a trip to Lebanon Valley College on September 22 followed by their Centennial Conference opener on September 26 at Gettysburg College.
