Five from women's soccer named to all-conference soccer team

LANCASTER, Pa. – The 2010 all-conference women's soccer team has been released by the Centennial Conference and five from Haverford College's league-tournament semifinalist squad earned postseason honors.

Seniors Michele Buonora, Maura Schiefer and Kayleigh Herrick-Reynolds, along with junior Katie Van Aken and freshman Meg Boyer, were named second-team all-Centennial.

Buonora and Van Aken have also earned inclusion on the Centennial's Academic Honor Roll.

Van Aken, a forward, scored seven goals and added four assists for a team-best 18 points. Boyer registered a team-best five assists to go along with five goals for a total of 15 points in the forward's first season at Haverford. Buonora scored four times and added four assists from the midfield for the Fords.

Schiefer and Herrick-Reynolds made their marks in the defensive third of the field helping Haverford post a conference-low 14 goals allowed. Schiefer's defensive back line also helped net minder Herrick-Reynolds produce 10 shut outs during the year, second-most in the league.

Herrick-Reynolds registered a 12-5-1 mark for the year allowing just 0.78 goals per game, a mark that is the second-lowest in team history (0.61, Lindsay Festa, 2005). The senior goalie collected eight shutouts and posted an .841 save percentage.

Haverford (12-5-1, 7-3 CC) finished third in the Centennial regular season standings earning a semifinal berth in the conference tournament played this past weekend.

The Fords played second-seed and eventual tournament champion Johns Hopkins University to a 2-2 tie through regulation play and a pair of overtime sessions in Saturday's semifinal. The Blue Jays advanced to the championship game with a 3-2 edge in shootout goals.
