Women’s soccer blanks No. 20 Dickinson, 4-0, in conference opener

CARLISLE, Pa. – For the second time this season the Haverford College women's soccer team pulled an upset of a top-25 opponent. The Fords, behind seven saves from keeper Robin Chernow, shutout No. 20 Dickinson College 4-0 in the Centennial Conference opener Saturday afternoon at Dickinson Park.

Four different Fords (4-0-1, 1-0-0 CC) found the back of the net in the win. Midfielder Michelle Babicz opened the scoring with her first goal of the season in the 14th minute with an assist from midfielder Anna Rayne. Midfielder Katie Van Aken extended the lead in the 18th minute. Connie Friedman assisted on the goal. In the 82nd minute midfielder Allie Chen recorded an unassisted goal to make the score 3-0. Forward Larisa Antonisse had the Fords' final goal in the 85th minute after receiving a pass from forward Meg Boyer. Van Aken, Chen and Antonisse are tied for the team lead in goals with two.

Dickinson (3-1-1, 0-1-0 CC) received seven saves from Annie Weichert.  The Fords owned a 17-11 shot advantage.

Earlier this season Haverford knocked off then-No. 10 Eastern Connecticut State University 2-1 in the Manhattan Tournament.

Haverford, a winner of its last four contests, travels to Muhlenberg College for a Centennial Conference show-down on Wednesday, September 21 at 7 p.m.
