Four second-half goals propel Fords past Owls

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Katie Van Aken's early first-half goal proved to be the game-winner, but a second-half scoring outburst gave the Fords breathing room in their 5-0 Centennial Conference victory over visiting Bryn Mawr College Wednesday afternoon in the rain at Walton Field.

Haverford (9-1-4, 4-1-2 CC) led the Owls (5-8-1, 0-6-1) by just a 1-0 score at halftime, courtesy of Van Aken's goal in the game's second minute.

Van Aken doubled the Haverford lead in the 59th minut with her sixth goal of the season, knocking home her second of the game -- both off assists from Sarah Andrade -- to initiate the second-half explosion.

Connie Friedman, Phoebe Miller and Lindsay Ryan each scored their first goals of the season following Van Aken's second to push the Haverford lead to its final five-goal margin of victory.

The Fords were dominant on the attack all game long, out shooting the Owls by counts of 12-1 and 12-0 during, respectively, first- and second-half play.

Haverford travels to McDaniel College for its next outing, a 1 p.m. Centennial contest Saturday in Westminster, Md.
