Victory over Green Terror moves women's soccer up league standings

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Phoebe Miller provided the game's only goal Saturday afternoon as Haverford College defeated host McDaniel College, 1-0, in Centennial Conference women's soccer action. The win propels the Fords to fourth in the league standings as the regular season winds down to its final games.

Following a scoreless first half, Miller collected a rebound off teammate Katie Van Aken's shot and pounded home the eventual game-winner for Haverford (10-1-4, 5-1-2 CC) in the 56th minute. McDaniel (2-12, 1-7) was able to register just one shot after Miller's tally, her second of the year, in the loss.

The Fords dominated possession owning a 23-8 advantage in shots including a 10-2 edge over the final 45 minutes of action. Haverford goalkeeper Robin Chernow needed to make just five saves in earning her eighth shutout of the season while Green Terror goalie registered eight saves in the loss.

Haverford travels to Washington College (2-10-1, 0-6-1) Wednesday for its next outing before closing out the regular season with a rivalry match-up Saturday, Oct. 29 at Walton Field against visiting Swarthmore College on Senior Day. The Garnet are 5-3 within league play and are clinging to the fifth and final postseason Centennial playoff spot.
