HAVERFORD, Pa.-The No. 4-seeded Haverford College Fords picked up a Centennial Conference tournament win for the first time since joining the league in 1993 with a 3-0 women's soccer victory over Franklin & Marshall College Wednesday afternoon at Walton Field.

The Fords improve to 12-2-4 while F&M finishes its season at 8-7-1.

Haverford moves on to play tournament host and top-seed Johns Hopkins University on Nov. 5 at 4:30 p.m. in the first of two conference semifinal matches. In the other, No. 2-seed Gettysburg College plays at 7 p.m. against third-seed Swarthmore College. The championship will be played on Nov. 6 at 3 p.m.

Before Wednesday's win by the Fords, Haverford was 0-6 overall and 0-2 in first-round Centennial Conference matches.

The Fords outshot the Diplomats 7-0 in the first half (four on goal), but the match was locked 0-0 at halftime.

Rayne was credited with the assist. Just two minutes later Sarah Hoffman ricocheted a hard shot off the post that Katie Van Aken followed up with a header into the net, boosting the Haverford lead to 2-0. With eight minutes remaining, Mariah Baker knocked in her first goal of the season to give the Fords a final 3-0 victory over the Diplomats.

In goal, Haverford's Robin Chernow had a quiet day with two saves for the Fords, while F&M's Amanda McGowan tallied seven stops in the loss.
