KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Haverford College senior women's soccer players Katie Van Aken and Elizabeth Newman have been voted to the 2011 NCAA Women's Division III All-Mid-Atlantic Region Team, as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America on Friday afternoon.

Van Aken has been named a second-team all-region player while Newman was tabbed for the third team. Previously in the postseason, both were voted first-team All-Centennial Conference selections and earned recognition on the Centennial academic honor roll.

A senior forward, Van Aken led the team with eight goals, six assists, and 22 points during the 2011 season in which the Fords reached the Centennial tournament semifinal round. She tied for the team lead with four game-winning goals and ranked sixth in the league in points, sixth in goals, fourth in assists and second in game-winning goals.

One of Van Aken's game-winners in the 2011 campaign came in overtime at Franklin & Marshall in early October. Her 15 career game-winning goals are the most in program history.

Newman, a sophomore defender who scored a pair of goals during the season, helped anchor a last line of defense which allowed only 16 goals during the year, tied for the second-fewest within the Centennial in 2011.
