BRYN MAWR, Pa. – A pressing attack that dominated possession led Haverford College's women's soccer team to a 3-0 Centennial Conference win over host Bryn Mawr College on Wednesday afternoon at Applebee Field. Meg Boyer's first-half goal in the 23rd minute proved to be the game-winner for the Fords.

Haverford (10-3-1, 4-2-1 Centennial) out shot the Owls (4-7-3, 1-5-2) by a 39-3 count and accumulated 13 corner kick opportunities to just one by Bryn Mawr.

The Fords came out strong on Bryn Mawr's new turf field, starting the game by registering the contest's first five shots over the opening 23 minutes of action, including Connie Friedman's shot that hit the post at the 10:05 mark.

The sixth shot was the charm as Boyer notched her team-leading eighth goal of the year, taking a feed from Elizabeth Newman and banging home what would be the eventual game-winner.

Haverford held a 14-0 edge in shots at the halftime break and didn't surrender a shot to the Owls until Marcela Dorfsman-Hopkins sailed one wide in the 53rd minute. Fords goalie Robin Chernow needed to make her only save of the game on a shot at 76:15 of the second half while by the game's end, Owls goalie Rebecca Joseph had valiantly come up with 21 saves against the constant pressure by Haverford.

Though the Fords were up at the intermission, the one-goal margin didn't leave much breathing room until Phoebe Miller's unassisted goal, her second marker of the season, early in the 80th minute. Five minutes later Hannah Davis netted her first of the year, this one coming off an assist from Boyer, to provide the game with its final score.

The win pushed the Fords into double-digits for the fourth straight season, a first for the program.

Haverford winds down the regular season with Saturday's home contest against visiting McDaniel College. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m. with the men's game against McDaniel to follow.
