NSCAA Poll

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's soccer team held its position at No. 22 in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll. Haverford (6-0-1) has now been in the national rankings during each of the three regular season releases. The Fords picked up a pair of hard-fought victories during this past week to improve upon the best start in program history.

The Fords began last week with a thrilling overtime victory at Lebanon Valley. Down a goal just 6:34 into the match, Haverford rallied to tie the contest with a first half goal from Ali Lopez. Jo Haller lifted the Fords to victory in the first overtime session for the 2-1 victory. Haverford came back on Saturday with the first win in program history over Stevenson, 1-0. Once again, it was Lopez that provided the offense. Lopez went on to be named Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts.

Women's soccer is off to its best start in program history through seven matches. The Fords also started out undefeated in their first seven matches of the 2009 and 2011 seasons but were 5-0-2 during each occasion. The Fords ran their unbeaten streak to eight matches with a 6-0-2 record during the 2009 season and went the first 12 matches of the 2011 season without a loss after starting 8-0-4.

Two more matches await the Fords this coming week. On Wednesday, the team will put a wrap on non-conference action for the regular season with a home match against Moravian that is slated for a 4:30 p.m. start. The Fords jump back into Centennial Conference play with a trip to Gettysburg for a 4 p.m. contest on Saturday.
