Abby Letts Named to Philadelpia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team

2016 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team

Haverford, Pa. – Abby Letts has been named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Women's Soccer Academic All-Area Team. The teams are voted on by the sports information offices of the 29 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, an athlete must be in at least his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better.

Letts, a two-year team captain for the Fords, graduates as a two-time All-Centennial Conference selection as a part of Haverford's standout defense. In addition to her success of the field, Letts was named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll in each of her three eligible seasons and was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team earlier this fall.

A three-year starter, Letts played in 57 games during her collegiate career, starting all 52 games in the past three seasons. In 2016, she was part of a defense that recorded 10 shutouts. Additionally, Letts tied for the team lead in goals with three. She scored the game-winning goals against both Widener and Washington College, while also tallying against Bryn Mawr during the regular season.

Letts is joined on the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women's Soccer team by Eastern's Emily Cole, Chestnut Hill's Annalyse Culp, Saint Joseph's Emily Gingrich, Arcadia's Jackie Glanfield, Rowan teammates Ali Hicks and Shelby Money, Swarthmore teammates Caroline Khanna and Hannah Lichtenstein, Cabrini's Gabby LeGendre, Penn's Paige Lombard, and Lincoln's Cleo Spear.
