HAVERFORD, Pa. – Teammates Kendra Griesman and Leanne Ludwick have both been named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team for women's soccer. The teams are voted on by the sports information offices of the 30 institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, an athlete must be in at least his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better. With Griesman and Ludwick both earning this honor, Haverford is the only school in the entire Philadelphia area with two representatives on the team.

Kendra Griesman, a computer science major, earned All-Centennial Conference accolades for the third time in her career with her first-ever first-team recognition. She was also Haverford's first All-Mid-Atlantic Region performer since 2015. Earning all-conference during each of her healthy seasons, Griesman had a career year in the midfield. Starting all 18 matches, she scored five goals in Centennial Conference play and assisted on one other. Griesman tallied the game-winning goal to go along with an assist against Franklin & Marshall for her first career three-point match. She also scored the game-winning goal against McDaniel while finding the back of the net during wins against Muhlenberg, Ursinus, and Bryn Mawr.

Leanne Ludwick, a biology major with a health studies minor, also earned first-team All-Centennial Conference accolades in 2019. One of the top point producers in the Centennial Conference, Ludwick tallied 12 goals and assisted on eight more. Her 32 points finished the season ranked fourth in the Centennial Conference. Recording game-winning goals against Eastern, Widener, and Alvernia, the Fords' co-captain scored in nine different matches and recorded a point in 11 of the 17 regular season matchups. Ludwick was named the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week following a four-point performance against Immaculata and a three-point outing against Alvernia after recording a hat trick against Eastern the week prior.

With their All-Centennial Conference recognition, Griesman and Ludwick are the 10th pair of teammates to earn first-team All-CC honors in the same season for Haverford. Their inclusion on the Academic All-Area Team marks the first such honor for a Haverford player since Abby Letts '17 in 2016. They are the first Fords duo recognized in the same season since Meg Boyer '14 and Allie Chen '13 were both named to the Academic All-Area Team following the 2012 season.

Women's soccer set new school records for most consecutive wins (8) and most consecutive shutouts (7) during the 2019 season as the Fords went 12-5-2 overall. That record earned the team in a spot in the Centennial Conference Tournament for the fourth straight season and earned the Fords an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2013 campaign.
