WESTMINSTER, Md.. - The Haverford College women's soccer team (6-6-2, 3-4-1 CC) was defeated by host seventh-ranked McDaniel (13-1-0, 7-1-0 CC), falling by a 2-0 final Saturday morning at Green Terror Soccer Complex. The contest had only a total of seven shots between the two teams.

Most of the game was played in the middle of the field, with both teams finding it difficult to get anything going offensively. The game's first shot didn't come until the 27th minute from Celia Page, but she missed wide. The next shots wouldn't come until the 38th minute when McDaniel notched back-to-back chances to get something on the net. Hannah Schepers had a shot blocked, and then Kiersten Crowley would miss wide on the follow-up attempt.

That would be the climax of the action in the first half as Haverford fought to get control of the ball and create legitimate chances to get the breakthrough goal. McDaniel led the way in corner kicks with four to Haverford's one, and neither goalkeeper would be tested before the end of the first half.

The second half was much of the same until the 54th minute as Schepers again  broke the deadlock with an unassisted goal. Then, just seven minutes later, the referee would whistle for a handball, rewarding McDaniel with a penalty kick. Maddie Schwartz stepped up to take the penalty for the Green Terror and converted, making it 2-0 McDaniel.

McDaniel controlled possession for the remainder of the game as the Fords did their best to get something out of the game, but it wouldn't be enough.

Women's soccer now has a quick turnaround to Tuesday afternoon, as they return home to Walton Field for a contest against non-conference foe Kean at 4 p.m.
