Costa Rica Blog Day Three: Jaco Beach, Los Cocodrilos, and Dance Lessons!

Haverford Women's Soccer in Costa Rica: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3

JACO BEACH, Costa Rica - After breakfast, we checked out to drive to our new hotel on Jaco Beach. On the way, we stopped at an amazing fruit stand. We had fun roaming the endless baskets of colorful fruits and refrigerators of freshly pressed juices, and got to enjoy fresh papaya, rambutan, mango, coconut, and lychee. Then, we made another stop to see 'los cocodrilos' (crocodiles) from the safe vantage point of a bridge. The enormous crocs didn't move a muscle as they sat in the muddy river below.

Following a buffet lunch at our new, all-inclusive hotel, we had a 3:00 pm training session at a field nearby. The heat and humidity were tough, but we had a great practice of passing patterns, small sided possession, and 4v4 knockout to goal.

At 5:30 came our big activity of the day: the latin dance lesson. We learned dances in 2 different styles- salsa and bachata. It was a fun challenge, and we came out having (mostly) mastered the steps.

Dinner at the hotel was preceded with a 'Happy Birthday' song and accompanying cake for the birthday girls- Maddie and Abi! Afterwards, we hung out by the pool for a bit, then headed in early in preparation for our early snorkeling and kayaking adventure tomorrow.

After blasting it on repeat on the bus, the song of the day is team favorite "Hot Wings (I Wanna Party)" from the Rio soundtrack.
