Costa Rica Blog Day Four: Catamaran, Snorkeling and Kids Clinic!

Haverford Women's Soccer in Costa Rica: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4

JACO BEACH, Costa Rica - We had an amazing morning aboard a catamaran! We kicked off the boat ride with the cha cha slide and the macarena on the second level. Once we got to a secluded, less choppy area, we got in the water to cool off and snorkel. Coach loved the waterslide and the second level platform to jump off of! We enjoyed freshly grilled mahi mahi, all the while taking in the surrounding green mountains and blue skies. After returning ashore, we capped off the morning by cooling down with a gelato stop before heading back to the resort.

The afternoon was spent enjoying the resort on our own time. Some of us jumped in the waves, others chilled by the pool, and most joined in a surprisingly competent game of volleyball on the grass.

At 6:00, we had the incredibly rewarding opportunity to run a soccer clinic for a local recreational program. There were about 60 kids aged 7-13, so the clinic was full of energy and borderline chaos, but it was an amazing experience. They were patient with our limited Spanish as we explained each of the six stations. We ended the day with a giant group cheer, which ended with Kaken buried under a pile of screaming boys. The goodbyes left us all feeling a little emotional.

After a later dinner at the resort, we headed in for an early night. Next up: our last full day, which entails ziplining and game #2!

In reflection of the bonds we made at the clinic, the song of the day is "We're Going to Be Friends" by The White Stripes.
