CHESTER, Pa. - The Haverford College women's soccer team (2-2-1) finished in a scoreless draw at Widener's Leslie Quick Jr. Stadium on Wednesday night, despite holding a 17-5 edge in shots in the contest.

The two sides each started relatively slow, as the first shot was not registered until the fifth minute as Phoebe Garfield fired off frame. Ella Manning fired the first shot on goal in the ninth minute, and the Fords kept building from there, with Sarah Klink, Liv McMillan and Manning all getting attempts off in the first 25 minutes of action.

Widener (0-2-3) didn't register its first shot until the 29th minute, with Abby Picollo opening up a brief flurry of strikes for the Pride. Widener's salvos were all off target, a theme that would continue throughout the night as the hosts did not register a shot on frame.

The hosts were held without a shot entirely in the second 45 minutes of play, in a stretch that saw Haverford pepper the cage. Garfield fired on target in the 52nd minute, with Samantha Coon making the save, before Liv McMillan had a great attempt in the 65th minute of play saved.

Reigning Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week Keira Prince had a shot high in the 87th minute, and nearly gave Haverford a dramatic late-game victory in the 90th minute, but saw her shot saved.

Samantha Coon finished with four saves in total. Liv McMillan had a game-best five shots while Garfield registered three. Five different Widener players registered shots in the contest.

Haverford now returns home for a non-conference test against Lebanon Valley on Saturday. The contest with the Flying Dutchmen is slated for Walton Field at noon and will be followed by the men's team opening up conference play against Franklin & Marshall at approximately 3 p.m.
