Lipinski earns Philly Inquirer academic all-area nod

PHILADELPHIA - Haverford College senior Kylie Lipinski has been named to the Philadelphia Inquirer 2012 Academic All-Area Track and Field Team as announced Monday by the Philadelphia Sports Information Directors Association (Philly-SIDA).

The team, comprised of athletes who are at least in their second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or better, is voted on by the sports information offices of the 28 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

Lipinski, a first-team All-Centennial Conference honoree in indoor and outdoor triple jump during her senior campaign, graduated as the program record holder in both the indoor (11.52 meters/37 feet, 9 1/2 inches) and outdoor (11.43m/37-6) triple jump.

Named the indoor and outdoor field performer of the conference championship meet in 2011, Lipinski captured the outdoor long jump crown in 2011 and outdoor triple jump crown for the final three years of her career. She also took the indoor triple jump title in 2011 and 2012 to give her six gold medals in conference championship competition overall.

A political science major, Lipinski was a member of the 2011 academic all-area team and earned inclusion to the Centennial academic honor roll six times during the course of her career.

Joining Lipinski on the academic all-area squad are Melissa Frick and Rebecca Hammond of Swarthmore; Kristen Judge and Paige Madison of Penn; Katherine Klinges of Gwynedd-Mercy; Sheila Reid of Villanova; Rachelle Salem of Delaware Valley; and Eric Azpynda of Widener. Jena Peacock of Rowan University was named the performer of the year.
