CHESTER, Pa. - Junior Hope Rainey captured first place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to lead a strong effort by a handful of members of the Haverford College women's track & field team at the Tuppeny Twilight Last Chance Meet hosted by Swarthmore College at Widener University on Monday night.

Rainey took first in the 3,000m steeplechase by over three seconds with her second career-best effort in as many outings. Finishing in 11 minutes, 9.60 seconds, Rainey's time ranks 24th among Division III performances this season. The junior captured the gold medal in the steeplechase at the Centennial outdoor championships on May 3-5.

Also running well was freshman Fiona Hendry who registered a career-best time (4:38.08) in the 1,500m to place 13th. Hendry's time cracked the top 50 in the nation in 2013.

Freshman Nora Weathers finished with the fastest time in heat three of the 800 meter run by over three seconds. Weather's time of 2:17.40 was good for 13th overall.

The final event of the meet saw junior Emily Scott just miss a new career-best time as she finished 15th in the 5,000.

Seniors Sara Hess and Cara Keifer capped their Haverford careers by finishing 20th and 21st, respectively, in the 1,500 while classmate Allison Guindon placed 10th in her final pole vault competition.

The final list of qualifiers for the national meet taking place May 23-25 in La Crosse, Wis. will be determined by Monday, May 21.
