MUHLENBERG, Pa. - Senior Chelsea Thorsheim's second-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase highlighted the Haverford College women's track & field team's performance at the Muhlenberg (College) Invitational on Saturday.
Thorsheim was the top Division III finisher in the steeplechase with a season-best time of 12 minutes, 20.71 seconds.
Carolyn Oehrig provided the Fords with another top-10 finish in the high jump. Oehrig placed ninth with a mark of 1.43 meters (4 feet, 8.25 inches). The junior was busy throughout the day as she also participated in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. Oehrig finished 17th in the 100 with a time of 13.60 seconds while her career-best time of 28.12 seconds was good for 19th in the 200.
Junior Kimberly Haughton placed 14th in the long jump with a season-best distance of 4.65 meters (15-03.25).
Haughton's classmate Natasha Stanley registered a personal best in the 100m with a time of 13.96.
Also on Saturday, a handful of Fords finished off a weekend of competition at the 49th Annual Colonial Relays hosted by The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va. Nora Weathers, Emily Scott, Hope Rainey and Katherine Greifeld joined forces to finish 16th in the 4x800 relay with a time of 9:32.66.
Sedona Murphy, Jade Andrade, Stephanie Kahn and Erin Seglem made Haverford history later in the day when the group became the first Haverford quartet in program history to participate in a sprint medley relay (200, 200, 400, 800). The four combined to finish in 4:35.07.
The Fords get back into action next Saturday at the West Chester (University) Invitational.
