Women's Track & Field Shines at Princeton, Widener

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's track & field team opened up its weekend of competition at two different sites as the Fords sent two runners to the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton University and saw several other individuals open up the weekend's Widener University Invitational.

Running at the Larry Ellis Invite, Nora Weathers climbed the national rankings in a field littered with NCAA Division I talent. The Fords' junior competed in the 1,500 meters, finishing fifth in her section and 38th overall in a field of 63 athletes. Her time of 4:37.02 moves her up to 11th on the NCAA's performance list for the outdoor season. Her new PR solidifies her spot as the fourth quickest runner in program history for the event.

Kelley Riffenburgh also competed at Princeton on Friday evening. Entering the 5,000 meters, Riffenburgh finished in a time of 17:53.83. She just missed a new personal best by two seconds. She is ranked ninth in school history in the event and now has a time in the top 50 across NCAA Division III.

Switching to more local competition, Haverford sent five runners to compete in the 5,000 meters at the Widener Invitational. Charlotte Lellman won the event, distancing herself from a pair of Johns Hopkins runners down the stretch. Her winning time of 18:41.96 edged her closest competitor by just under three seconds. Allison Hacker (20:39.80), Alison Love (21:04.28), and Margaret Duffy (21:05.74) filled the 15th through 17th place slots, while Amanda Glavin (21:54.06) was just behind that trio in 19th place.

Haverford also had a pair of freshman entrants in the discus throw. Emily Anderson recorded a new personal best toss of 120 feet, nine inches (36.81 meters). Her latest PR moves her up to fourth in the College's record book. She was third overall in the field. Claire Sargent was ninth in the event with a throw of 99 feet, 10 inches (30.42 meters).

The women's track & field team will continue its weekend at the Widener Invitational with the first events set to go off at 10 a.m. Live stats will also be provided throughout the meet on Saturday.
