CHESTER, Pa. - The Haverford College women's track and field team traveled to Chester, on Saturday to participate in the Widener Invitational. The Fords used the meet to improve and prep before conference championships in two weeks. Haverford finished 20th in the meet overall.

The key performer for the Fords was Isabel Thornberry, looking to run sub-60 all season in the 400 meters. At Widener, the sophomore finally broke through, running a personal best of 59.92. That represents the ninth-best mark in program history. Thornberry is known to improve over time and is one of the most consistent runners in the conference. So, it was only a matter of when she would break 60 seconds, not if. Her performance notched an eighth place finish overall.

Naomi Fukuda ran 13.42 in the 100-meter dash, finishing in the middle of the pack for 33rd out of 60 athletes. Ella Fleming took part in the 200-meter dash, running 29.83. Rounding out the sprinting performances for Haverford was Jahsaiah Moses as she finished 11th in the 400-meter hurdles running a personal best of 1:09.14.

Katie Hirsche logged a 10th place finish in the 1,500 meters, crossing in 4:51.98. Taylor Seid crossed in 38th with a time of 5:47.95 and Selena She was also entered in the 1500 meters, running 6:06.99 in that event. She's time was slightly over a second off her personal best of 6:05.14.

Fiona Flynn was the top finisher for the Fords in the 800-meter dash. The senior crossed the finish line in a respectable 2:23.68. She earned a top-20 finish in her first time running the event. Behind Flynn was fellow senior Lauren Tanel in 27th, with a time of 2:26.41. Also running the event was the trio of Dominique Monroy (2:30.72), Annemarie Wood (2:36.45), and Juliette Young (2:38.25).

Kayla Robinson took eighth in the triple jump. On her second attempt, the junior leaped out to 10.24 meters (33 feet, 7.25 inches). In the pole vault, Alice Creed finished 7th with a vault of 2.95 meters (nine feet, eight inches), a new personal best in the outdoor season and the fifth-best in program outdoor history.

Haverford concluded the meet with the 4x400 relay squad in action, crossing the line in 4:07.40 to secure eighth place. Fukuda, Moses, Rachel November, and Flynn ran the relay for the Fords.

The Fords will compete in the only home meet of the season on Monday, April 25, at Johnson Track for the Haverford Tri-Meet. The meet is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
