HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford College track & field junior chemistry major Isabel Thornberry has earned a spot on the Philadelphia Sports Information Directors (PhillySIDA) Academic All-Area team, the organization announced in a release last week.
The Louisville, Colorado product adds inclusion on the team to a bevy of academic awards released at the conclusion of the 2022-23 season. Thornberry previously took home the Centennial Conference Track & Field Scholar Athlete of the Year award last month. The award is presented to a junior or senior member of the All-Centennial team with the highest cumulative grade point average.
A three-time member of the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll, Thornberry was recently named second-team All-Centennial Conference for the 4x400 meter relay, as the Haverford squad finished as runner-up at the CC Championships on May 7. The relay squad also finished as USTFCCCA All-Metro region selections for their performances in the relay this season.
In the indoor season, Thornberry is also an USTFCCCA 4x400 meter All-Region pick, and was an honorable mention All-CC selection in the 400 meters after a bronze medal finish in that event at the Centennial Indoor Championships.
