Women's Track & Field Shines On Day Two at Danny Curran Invitational

CHESTER, Pa. – The Haverford College women's track & field team wrapped up competition on the second and final day of the Danny Curran Invitational at Widener University on Saturday afternoon. The day featured field events including the javelin throw, hammer throw, long jump, and a variety of competitions hitting the track. 

The day began with the javelin throw, where Summer Ryan placed 23rd with a throw of 25.50 meters (83 feet, 8 inches).

On the track, eight Haverford runners competed in the 1500 meters. Savannah Shaw led the Fords with a 26th place finish in 4:59.80, followed closely by Dominique La Grenade in 30th with a personal best time of 5:02.72. Jessie Hausman (50th, 5:18.91) and Alice Sappenfield (51st, 5:19.43) finished within a second of each other, while Bianca Ortiz secured 54th in 5:21.38. Other notable finishers included Katie Strutton (68th, 5:39.52), Dalia Smid (71st, 5:42.19), and Natalie Kruglyak (81st, 6:02.69).

In the 100-meter hurdles, Beatrice Di Girolamo finished 17th with a time of 16.87, while Ella Fleming achieved a personal best of 18.40 to place 28th. The 400 meters saw first-year Emery Casucci make her event debut, placing 40th with a time of 1:05.66.

In the 100 meters, Nadine Tang earned 28th place with a time of 13.33.

The 800 meters featured five Haverford competitors, with Anastasia Jaycobs leading the way in 8th place with a personal best time of 2:18.92. Olivia D'Aulerio followed in 10th with a time of 2:20.24, while Carly Priest notched 26th in 2:27.18, improving her personal best by more than two seconds. Rookie Maia Poremba secured 38th in 2:31.53, and first-year Betty Baraki placed 69th with a time of 2:45.39.

In the 400-meter hurdles, senior Rachel November was Haverford's lone competitor, placing 15th with a time of 1:11.97.  In the 200 meters, Adriana Cruz-Soto placed 64th with a time of 28.10, while Zofi Sanders finished 94th in 29.91.

Over at the long jump, Grace Hannigan leapt 4.80 meters (15 feet, 8.97 inches) to place 26th. Fleming and Di Girolamo earned 30th and 31st, respectively, with Fleming setting a personal best of 4.63 meters (15 feet, 2.28 inches). In the hammer throw, Sarah Wilcher placed 31st with a toss of 31.40 meters (103 feet).

The Haverford women's track & field team will next return to action on Friday, April 4, for the two-day Ursinus College Track & Field Festival at Patterson Field on the campus of Ursinus College.
