Women’s cross country takes fourth at regional meet

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Haverford College women's cross country team claimed fourth out of 45 teams at the NCAA Mideast Regional meet hosted by Carnegie Mellon University Saturday. The Fords have finished in the top-four at the regional meet in 10 of the last 11 years.

Emily Lipman was Haverford's first runner to cross the finish line, taking 16th with a time of 22 minutes, 50.60 seconds. Alice Vienneau (23:33.70) and Harper Hubbeling (23:35.80) took 33rd and 35th, respectively. Lipman, Vienneau and Hubbeling earned all-region honors by finishing in the top-35.

Emily Scott (23:51.20) took 41st and saw Andrea Tocci finish three seconds behind to finish 43rd and round out the scoring for the Fords. Erin Seglem (24:00.30) and Flora Berklein (24:01.60) did not score, but finished 50th and 51st, respectively.

Johns Hopkins University won the meet and the Blue Jays Cecilia Furlong claimed first place with a time of 21:57.20. Dickinson College took second place, followed by Elizabethtown College.

Haverford will await the NCAA's official announcement Sunday evening to find out if it will receive an at-large bid or if any individuals will be invited to the national championship meet next Saturday, Nov. 20 at Wartburg (Iowa) College.
