Huge Day at the Centennial Conference Championship as Women’s Cross Country Finishes Fourth

WESTMINSTER, Md. - What a day it was for the Haverford College Women's Cross Country team, as the Fords finished the day in fourth place at the 30th annual Centennial Conference Championship at the McDaniel College Golf Club. Haverford tallied 113 total points while battling unseasonably warm weather and a challenging, hilly course.
Haverford also picked up a Hood Trophy point by virtue of finishing above Swarthmore, as the Garnet were the sixth-place team (160 points).

First-year runner Alice Sappenfield made quite the splash in the championship race, finishing in 15th place with a time of 24:46.6. Junior captain Dominique Monroy followed up her teammate's strong performance with an impressive outing of her own, finishing the race in 25:32.6 and placing 22nd overall. 

Not too far behind Monroy, was Savannah Shaw who crossed the finish line in 26th place with a time of 25:56.3. Krysta Nichols finished her Centennial Conference Championship journey in 26:17.2, earning 32nd place. 

Julianna Watson then finished just two spots behind Nichols in 34th, completing the 6k trek in 26:32.2.

Finishing in 40th place was sophomore Carly Priest. The native of Columbus, Ohio. ended the race with a time of 26:55.7. Cracking the top 50 was sophomore Jessie Hausman who completed the championship meet in 49th, with a pace of 27:36.8.

Anna Berry (50th, 27:37.4), Poppy Chrisman (58th, 28:02.8), Audrey Carter (60th, 28:11.7), Claire Parsons (76th, 29:33.5), and Sophia Furman (83rd, 30:35.8) rounded out the Haverford contingent. 

Johns Hopkins captured its 15th consecutive Centennial title, earning a perfect score of 15 points for the third time in Centennial history and the second consecutive campaign.

Following the impressive showing at the Centennial Conference Championship, Women's Cross Country will now head to the NCAA Metro Regional on Saturday, November 11 at DREAM Park in Logan Township, N.J. with the women's race slated for 12 p.m.

The regional race will feature seven individual entrants from each team with the top  squad earning automatic bids to the NCAA Championship.
