Riffenburgh Repeats Academic All-Area Honor

Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Kelley Riffenburgh has been named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team for the second straight season. Riffenburgh is one of seven student-athletes selected to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area women's cross country team. The team is voted on by the sports information offices of 29 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, an athlete must be in at least his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better.

A senior Linguistics major from South Pasadena, Calif., Riffenburgh earned her second all-region honor this past fall as she placed 15th overall at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional with a season-best time of 22:29.5. Riffenburgh just missed All-Centennial Conference honors the previous meet with a 17th-place finish at the conference championship. Riffenburgh's highest individual finish came in the Alumnae Race where she placed third overall.

Riffenburgh is joined on the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women's Cross Country team by Philadelphia University's Emilie Barton (Performer of the Year), Barton's teammate Taylor Falvey; University of the Sciences' Brianna Ligotski, Eastern's Josey Rupert; Villanova's Stephanie Schappert; and Clarissa Whiting from the University of Pennsylvania.

Haverford's top regional finisher concludes her cross country career as a 2013 NCAA qualifier. She was also named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll three times in cross country. Her most recent accolade came this past fall.
