Sullivan, Giannetti Lead No. 16 Women's Cross Country at Main Line

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The No. 16 Haverford College women's cross country team started off its competition schedule with a strong showing at the Main Line Invitational. Running in a field that featured several Division I programs, the Fords had the top two finishers of the Division III runners and three of the top five overall among their peers.

Katie Sullivan was the top Division III runner in the field as she crossed the line in a time 17:32.8. That mark was nearly 12 seconds faster than her closest competition which came from her own teammate as Nicole Giannetti finished in 17:47.1 over the three mile course. Swarthmore and Widener were the other Division III programs to enter the meet.

After two Swarthmore finishers, MaryKate Cavanaugh also earned a top five finish among the Division III entrants with her time of 18:33.0. Amelia Keyser-Gibson was the team's fourth finisher as she placed ninth in the Division III field with a time of 18:51.3. Freshman Abigail Doroshow was the Fords' fifth scorer with a time of 18:54.9 as she placed 11th to give the Fords a spread of 1:22.1 over their top five runners. Freshman Mckenna Krall (19:31.8) and sophomore Sophie Drew (19:44.1) were Haverford's sixth and seventh finishers. Right on the heels of Drew was Alison Love who placed 16th (19:45.8).

Following the top eight, Haverford came in as a pack with Julia Smith (20:00.2), Zoe Arditi (20:22.9), Allison Hacker (20:24.7), Amanda Glavin (20:29.9), Sarah Wade (20:39.8), and Liana Alves (20:59.6) all breaking the 21 minute mark. Alison Champagne (21:04.8), Jolie Jaycobs (21:15.9), Mariana Ramirez (21:54.1), and Michelle Luu (22:26.1) rounded out the team's finishers.

Women's cross country will have the next weekend away from competition before traveling to the Paul Short Invitational on October 1 at Lehigh University.
