
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Haverford College women's cross country team competed in the prestigious Paul Short Run at Lehigh University's Goodman Campus on Saturday, securing 37th place in the Women's Collegiate White 6K race.
Grace Chen led the Fords for the second consecutive race, finishing 160th with a time of 23:31.8, marking a new personal best. Alice Sappenfield followed as Haverford's second finisher, placing 216th with a time of 24:05.8.
Just behind Sappenfield was Savannah Shaw, who came in 230th with a time of 24:16.3, also achieving a personal best. Close on her heels, Julianna Watson finished 238th with a personal best of 24:21.2. Dominique La Grenade placed 250th with a time of 24:29.4, followed by Anastasia Jaycobs in 270th with a time of 24:43.3. Krysta Nichols rounded out Haverford's top seven, finishing 284th with a personal best of 24:50.6.
Also competing in the 6K for the Fords were first-years Bianca Ortiz (346th, 26:11.8) and Dalia Smid (353rd, 26:30.7), along with junior Sophia Furman (362nd, 26:48.7). Women's Cross Country outperformed two of its Centennial Conference rivals, finishing ahead of Ursinus (43rd) and Bryn Mawr (45th) in the event.
Amherst claimed the team title, with Emory placing second and NYU finishing third. Individually, Jules Bleskoski of RPI took first place with a time of 20:42.5, followed by Audrey Maclean of Middlebury (20:48.2) in second and Haley Schoenegge of Vassar (20:52.3) in third.
In addition to action in the Collegiate 6K, Haverford had seven runners compete in the Women's Open 6K, where Poppy Chrisman led the way, finishing 318th with a personal best of 25:44.5. Other finishers in the Open 6K included Maia Poremba (399th, 27:07.0), Katie Strutton (436th, 28:29.8), Emery Casucci (440th, 28:40.7), Claire Parsons (454th, 29:16.2), and Grace Hannigan (466th, 29:54.7).
Haverford's women's cross country team will next compete at the DeSales University Invitational on Saturday, October 12. The race is set to begin at 11 a.m in Center Valley, Pa.
