HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's cross country team placed fourth out of six teams at the Main Line Invitational on Friday evening. The Fords, a team sitting just outside of the top 35 in the latest USTFCCCA rankings, had nine of their 18 entrants run three-mile personal bests in the meet and best Division I St. Joseph's in the process.

Each of Haverford's top three runners set personal bests with Sophie Drew, Griffin Kaulbach, and Izzy Miller coming in ahead of the 19-minute mark. Drew led the Fords to the finish as she placed 25th overall in a meet that featured three Division I teams in Villanova, Penn, and aforementioned St. Joseph's. The senior captain came to the finish line in a time of 18:33.9.

Kaulbach (18:54.2) and Miller (18:59.0) came in right after each other with the 29th and 30th overall finishes. Captain Julia Smith (19:23.9) and Hannah Yeakey (19:29.7) were the team's fourth and fifth finishers, placing 36th and 37th. Their finishes gave the Fords less than a minute spread between the team's first and fifth runners.

Three more PRs came across the line for the 41st through 43rd positions with Lauren Tanel (19:47.5), Angie Petrichenko (19:51.1), and Natalia Cordon (19:53.8). The underclassmen continued to pour in with Amalia Axinn (19:58.6) and Molly Hawkins (19:59.7) also breaking the 20-minute mark to cap a string of five straight Haverford finishers.

Jolie Jaycobs (20:07.0) also cracked the top 50 runners in the field of six teams, while Sophie Schleifer (20:21.0), Annie Connolly-Sporing (23:22.0), and Marly Banatte (23:25.9) set new personal bests in the three-mile distance to highlight the remaining Haverford finishers.

After seeing its first outside competition of the season, women's cross country will have just over two weeks before returning to competition at Lehigh's Paul Short Invitational. That race will be held on Saturday, September 29 with the women set for a 10 a.m. start in Bethlehem.
