PHILADELPHIA – The Haverford College women's cross country team placed second at the Jack Saint Clark Memorial Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Competing at Belmont Plateau, the Fords scored 41 points as a team, second only to the Philadelphia Running Club in a field that also included several Division II schools.

Hannah Doll was the top collegiate finisher in the field as she placed fourth overall with a time of 23:36.7 on a very challenging course. Sophie Drew (24:23.8) and Izzy Miller (24:31.1) also earned top 10 finishes with their respective eighth and 10th place times.

Haverford showcased its depth with the team's third through ninth finishers sweeping the 10th through 16th positions at the line. Behind Miller was Julia Smith (24:40.3) and Griffin Kaulbach (24:45.2) to put five runners across the finish line in the top 12. Right behind them were Molly Hawkins (24:59.8) and Jolie Jaycobs (25:00.4) as Haverford's sixth and seventh runners all placed in the top 14. The Ford contingent continued to come with Natalia Cordon (25:13.3) and Mckenna Krall (25:14.6) finishing in successive order.

Angie Petrichenko also snagged a top 20 finish in the field of 94 runners as she finished with a time of 25:24.1. Lauren Tanel (25:41.3) and Sophie Schleifer (26:09.8) placed 21st and 27th, respectively. Mariana Ramirez (26:44.0), Amalia Axinn (27:16.5), Zoe Arditi (27:20.3), and Michelle Luu (27:22.5) all cracked the top 40 finishers. Annie Connolly-Sporing (28:01.1) beat over half the field as she placed 45th, while Maggie Doubman came to the line with a time of 28:51.3.

Women's cross country appears to have momentum on its side at just the right time as the Fords will now head into the Centennial Conference Championships with first and second place finishes as a team during two of their last three meets. Hosting the conference meet on the Alumni Cross Country Course, championship season gets underway for Haverford on Saturday, October 27. The women's varsity race is set to go off at 11 a.m. with the men to follow at 12 p.m. noon.
