Hirsche Takes Individual Title to Pace Fords at Bryn Mawr Invitational

MEDIA, Pa. - The Haverford College Women's Cross Country team began the season competing in the Bryn Mawr Invitational at Rose Tree Park in Media on Thursday night, with first year Katie Hirsche taking the individual title in the twilight 5K race to highlight a group of Haverford runners making their collegiate cross country debuts.  

Marking her first intercollegiate competition with an individual title, the Washington, D.C. product finished in 20:21.3 to lead the field. The time was also a new course record for Rose Tree Park.

Haverford's second finisher on the evening was another first year, as Dominique Monroy crossed in 16th (23:09.8). First year Maya Holmes finished 22nd in 23:47.4 while classmate Krysta Nichols toed the line 31st, toeing the line in 24:24.5. Juniors Hedy Goodman and Selena She crossed in 36th (25:39.5) and 43rd (27:04.5), respectively. Swarthmore took the team title in the meet, which also included select athletes from Division III schools Bryn Mawr and Cedar Crest.

The full Haverford squad will be back on the course at home, hosting the Alumnae Open race on Saturday at 5 p.m, before the season begins in earnest with the Main Line Invitational, with the women's race set for September 17 at 5 p.m.
