Women's Cross Country Hosts Alumnae Open Meet

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's cross country program welcomed back its alumnae to campus on a beautiful Saturday afternoon for racing, as the Fords hosted their annual Alumnae Open Race to kickoff Labor Day weekend. In addition to the race finishers, many more alumnae and their families came back to support all of the race entrants on Saturday.

A total of 20 runners competed between the alumnae and varsity squads. Amelia Keyser-Gibson '18 notched yet another Alumnae Open title as the top overall finisher with a time of 17:38.94 on the three-mile course. Izzy Miller (17:45.78) and Angie Petrichenko (18.19.5) from the varsity team crossed in second and third, respectively. 

Griffin Kaulbach also posted a sixth-place finish for the varsity (18:56) while Lauren Tanel (20:05), Hannah Yeakey (20:33) and Annemarie Wood (21:23) all finished within the top 15. 

The alumnae who returned to campus and were race finishers included Amelia Keyser-Gibson '18, Lena Edelstein '09, Maggie Heffernan '16, Katie Sullivan '18, Chelsea Thorsheim '14, Megan Sullivan '02,  Frances Bourne '97, Julia Smith '19, Jen Maranzano '94, Rachel Sandler '05, Nicole Giannetti '18, Kelly Riffenburgh '15, and Lauren Box. 

The 2021 varsity team returns to action with its full squad for its first home meet of the season, the Main Line Invitational, on Friday, September 17 on the Alumni Cross Country Course. The start is slated for 5 p.m.
