LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Haverford College women's cross country team placed 24th at the NCAA Division III Championships, hosted by Spaulding University at E.P "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday afternoon.  The Fords were paced by a pair of All-America finishers, as the newly-minted Metro Region Champions earned two All-American certificates in the same season for the first time in program history with seniors Angie Petrichenko and Izzy Miller each earning the prestigious designation with top 40 finishes. 

Haverford scored 567 points, with an average time of 22:50, edging out Centennial Conference foe Dickinson, as the Red Devils took 26th place. Petrichenko was the first Haverford runner to toe the finish line, crossing in 18th place overall with a time of 21:28.7. The finish was a new career best for the senior, and the highest finish for a Haverford runner at the national championship since Jane Steinemann in 2002. 

The second runner to cross was Miller as the 2021 Metro Region Athlete of the Year reprised honors for the second straight weekend with a time of 21:39.0, good for a 28th place overall finish. The pair became Haverford's first All-Americans since Fiona Hendry during the 2012 season. Griffin Kaulbach was the third Haverford finisher, taking 129th in 22:38 in her final race for the Fords while fellow seniors Hannah Yeakey (23:56.6, 270th) and Lauren Tanel (24:27.7, 285th) rounded out the Haverford scorers.

Yeakey was making her second appearance at a national meet, the only Haverford runner that was a part of the 2017 nationals contingent. Rounding out the Haverford scorers were a pair of first years as Krysta Nichols (25:32, 222nd) and Maya Holmes (25:57, 223rd) logged an appearance at the NCAA meet in their first semesters on campus, gaining valuable experience on the biggest stage. 

Women's cross country was making its 18th team appearance at the NCAA Division III Championships and its first appearance since the 2017 season, which was the last in a string of eight appearances in nine seasons prior. 

Centennial Conference champions Johns Hopkins took the national championship with a score of 130 points, edging out a challenge from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (132 points) while SUNY Geneseo took third (168 points). Kassie Rosenbum of Loras College was the individual champion in 20:11.1. 

With the cross country season now concluded, Haverford will next turn its attention to the indoor track & field season, which will begin in earnest on December 4 with the Haverford Holiday Invitational inside Alumni Field House. Events are slated to begin at 10:30 a.m.
