Full Centennial Conference Preseason Poll Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The reigning NCAA Metro Region Champions, the Haverford College women's cross country team has been picked for a fourth place finish in the Centennial Conference Preseason Poll, grabbing one first place vote. Johns Hopkins enters the 2022 season as the top team in the conference and likely the nation by virtue of a second-straight NCAA crown in 2021.

In a testament to one of the nation's strongest conferences, Dickinson garnered second in the voting with 71 points overall. Swarthmore (61) claimed third, while Haverford added its first place tally to a total of 56 points.  Ursinus (51) rounded out the top five. Sixth went to Franklin & Marshall (43), while Gettysburg (32) was slotted seventh, Muhlenberg (24) in eighth, Bryn Mawr (20) in ninth, and McDaniel (11) wrapped up the voting in tenth.

With a pair of All-America performers graduated from the program as Angie Petrichenko and Izzy Miller leave the squad with illustrious collegiate careers behind them, Haverford turns its focus to a group of younger runners looking for something to prove. Katie Hirsche, the 10,000-meter champion in the outdoor track campaign last spring, hopes to repeat that success in her sophomore season on the cross country course.

Haverford will have a great chance on familiar turf as the program will play host to the 2022 Centennial Conference championships on October 29. The women's race is slated for 11 a.m. with the men's race to follow at approximately noon.

The women's team has qualified to the NCAA Championships as a team 18 times while being represented by individuals on 11 other occasions.

The season will begin with the Alumnae Open race slated to take place on Saturday, September 3 at 5 p.m.
