Season Review: Men's Outdoor Track & Field Carries on Tradition of Success

2016 Outdoor Season Review

Season Notes: Charlie Marquardt became just the seventh runner on the men's side at Haverford to earn six All-America certificates when he placed fourth in the 1500 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships … Marquardt was a three-time national runner-up as an individual or relay participant and was also of member of Haverford's second place cross country team during his freshman season … Marquardt was named the Centennial Conference Outstanding Track Performer of the Year for the sixth straight season dating back to cross country of his junior campaign … Marquardt graduates ranked sixth in Division III history in the 1500 meters with his best time of 3:43.24 that earned him the top seed at the NCAA Championships … He is ranked second in school history in the event behind national record holder Karl Paranya '97 while Haverford has a total of four individuals in the top 10 in that event …  The Fords' 174 points scored at the Centennial Conference Championship was the team's highest total since the 2013 championship outdoor season.

 

Looking Ahead: Haverford graduates a talented Class of 2016 that was headlined by Marquardt, but also featured Centennial Conference Champions Jeffrey Ainsley and Dylan Verner Christ. Graham Peet, the 2015 Centennial Conference Cross Country Rookie of the Year, will be back after a runner-up finish in the steeplechase. All-Centennial Conference runners Jimmy Gorman and Henry Woods will also be counted on to continue the tradition of success for the Haverford College men's track & field program.
