Men's Track & Field Excels on Day Two at Danny Curran Invitational

CHESTER, Pa. – On the second day of competition at the Danny Curran Invitational at Widener, the Haverford College men's outdoor track and field team posted several top 10 individual finishes, highlighted by a second-place performance from Dylan Gearinger in the 1,500 meter run. Gearinger's finish was a career-best and the second fastest in Division III this season. The Fords finished fourth overall out of 20 teams in the two-day meet. 

Gearinger was the top attached finisher in the event, crossing with a time of 3:54.08, second only to unattached runner Charlie Marquardt '16. Henry Woods was just behind Gearinger in a time of 3:58.72 for third while Chris Goings was eighth in 4:02.99.  Ryan Herlihy (14th, 4:07.27) also finished within the top 15 for the Fords in the event. 

Elsewhere, Graham Peet reprised his role as Haverford's main steeplechase competitor, crossing second in a time of 9:39.14 in his 2018 debut in the event.

In the sprints, Justin Telleria was the lone Haverford entrant in the 100m, finishing in 42nd with a time of 12.79. Oscar Huang (53rd, 25.22) and Gabe Pascal (57th, 25.64) competed in the 200 meters for Haverford. The pair were also represented Haverford in the 400 meters, with Huang finishing in 31st with a time of 55.03 and Pascal crossing in 39th with a time of 57.80.

Haverford's 4x100 meters relay squad of Zach Oji, Cameron Albrecht, Pascal and Telleria finished in fifth place with a time of 57.78. Albrecht and Oji competed in the Hurdles for the Fords. Albrecht recorded a time of 20.11 in the 110 meter hurdles while Oji crossed in 1:00.65 in the 400 meter hurdles.

In field events, Greg Van Aken registered a sixth-place finish in the pole vault, registering a height of 3.80m.

Jack Brower cleared a distance of 1.85 meters in the high jump, a new collegiate best. Silvan Sooksatan (1.70m) and Chris Glazer (1.65m) also registered marks in the event. In the long jump, Sooksatan was the top Haverford finisher with a mark of 5.79 meters. Zach Oji narrowly missed a top-10 finish in the triple jump, taking a mark of 12.10 meters.

In the throwing events, Josiah Legaspi competed in the hammer, with a mark of 32.87 meters.

The men's track & field team will return to action on Friday, April 6 as a group heads to the Sam Howell Invitational at Princeton. Evening racing on the track will get underway at 5 p.m. Another group of Haverford athletes will also compete at West Chester's Bill Butler Invitational on Saturday, April 7.
