Men’s Track & Field Finishes Sixth at Centennial Conference Championships

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Haverford College men's track & field team wrapped up an impressive showing at the 2025 Centennial Conference Championships on Sunday afternoon at Ursinus College, finishing the three-day meet in sixth place with 68 total points.

The weekend was highlighted by a bevy of standout performances, including gold medals in the 10,000 meters and 1,500 meters. The Fords also earned silver and bronze medals in the 5,000 meters, as well as a silver medal in the 400-meter hurdles.

Johns Hopkins claimed the 2025 Centennial Conference title with 218 points, followed by Ursinus in second place with 171 points. Dickinson rounded out the top three with 109 points.

Kicking off the morning in style, Reza Eshghi led a Haverford quartet in the 1500 meters grabbing first place, earning the gold for the second consecutive season. The senior darted to a time of 3:53.91, to claim the top prize and 10 points for the Fords. Following Eshghi was Micah Lachman, who notched a point in the standings by finishing in eighth place with a season-best time of 3:59.77. In 10th place was Reed Solomon who finished the race with a time of 4:04.16, while Torin Pelton-Flavin collected 21st with a time of 4:13.31. 

The 4X100 meter relay began the final day of the Centennial Conference Championships, as the team of Thomas FendigNiko Beros, Mark Tringas, and Samuel Lin, placed fifth with a time of 43.05.

Jason Mayo shined in the javelin for Haverford, placing eighth with a throw of 48.46 meters (159 feet). The mark moves the junior to ninth all-time in program history. He was joined by teammate Tiger Wang, who earned 15th place with a throw of 41.77 meters (137 feet).

Thomas Fendig surged to a time of 49.19 in the 400 meters, finishing fourth and adding five points to Haverford's total. First-year Nico Greene delivered a memorable performance in the 400-meter hurdles, running a personal-best 55.43 to claim second place. His time now ranks sixth all-time in Haverford history.

In a stacked 5,000 meters that saw Johns Hopkins' Emmanuel LebBond break the Centennial Conference record with a time of 14:07.20. Reza Eshghi and Peter LaRochelle secured second and third place, respectively. Eshghi clocked in at 14:30.74 to earn the silver medal and eight points, while LaRochelle crossed in 14:37.97, to claim bronze and six points in the team standings. 

Luke de Valpine finished the 5000 meters in ninth with a time of 15:08.61, followed by Jakob Maiwald in 11th with a time of 15:17.92. In 16th was Seamus Fraser with a time of 15:33.87, while Joseph De Rosa placed 22nd with a time of 15:41.98. Rounding out the Haverford group was Miles Colescott, who ended the trek in 29th with a time of 16:18.12.

To close out the day, the Centennial Conference Championship meet record in the 4x400 meter relay was shattered by Johns Hopkins, who secured first place with a time of 3:16.65. Haverford's quartet of Nico Greene, Niko Beros, Reef Kirchner, and Thomas Fendig clocked in at 3:28.85 to earn an eighth-place finish and one point in the team standings.

Next up for the Haverford Men's Track & Field team is the Widener Final Qualifying Meet in Chester, Pa. on Monday, May 12, at 3:30 p.m.  This will be the last opportunity for the Fords to qualify athletes for the NCAA Championships, scheduled for May 22-24 in Geneva, Ohio. The top 20 athletes in individual events and the top 12 relay teams will be selected to compete at the NCAA Championships.
