Men's Track & Field Tunes Up For Conference Championships with Home Tri-Meet

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's track & field team hosted its only home meet of the season, welcoming Ursinus, as well as select athletes from Swarthmore and Widener, for a full afternoon of competition at Johnson Track & Walton Field. The throwing events were held approximately 200 yards away at the Haverford Throwing Facility. The meet served as Haverford's annual Play with Pride Day, celebrating LGBTQ+ inclusion within the Haverford Athletics and the broader college community.

Thomas Fendig led a large Haverford contingent in the 100 meters, crossing in 11.37 seconds in his outdoor 100-meter debut. Zenas Boamah was second in a personal-best 11.50, while Samuel Lin placed third in 11.54. Amon-Ra Kamit (seventh, 12.10), Jonah Hoffmann-Weitsman (eighth, personal-best 12.11), and Derek Linden (ninth, personal-best 12.14) rounded out the Fords' finishers.

Fendig was also the top finisher in the 200 meters, edging out Niko Beros with a personal-best time of 22.44. Beros was second in 22.90, while Nico Greene placed third in a personal-best 23.02. Nathan Ma finished fifth in a personal-record 24.56, followed by Linden in sixth with a PR of 24.71. Hoffmann-Weitsman logged a new PR of 24.73 to take seventh. Alex Geng (eighth, 25.06) and Jackson Juzang (ninth, 25.13) completed the Fords' showing—both notching new personal bests.

Geng also competed in the 110-meter hurdles, placing third in 18.68. Gopal Patel was Haverford's lone entrant in the 800 meters, finishing fourth in a field that featured four runners from Ursinus. Patel clocked in at 2:09.95.

In the 1,500 meters, Micah Lachman led a deep Haverford field with a third-place finish in 4:01.37. Seniors Reed Solomon and Seamus Fraser followed in fourth and fifth, with times of 4:04.98 and 4:05.29, respectively. Luke De Valpine and Jakob Maiwald placed seventh and eighth in 4:07.72 and 4:08.50. Torin Pelton-Flavin finished ninth in 4:13.88, followed by Joseph De Rosa in 11th at 4:15.56. First-years Reef Kirchner (13th, 4:24.59) and Nicky Elias-Gillette (14th, 4:31.83) were next to cross for the Fords, while senior Kieran McDonnell placed 16th in 4:33.59. Cullen Worth (18th, personal-best 4:38.79) and Seawon Park (20th, 4:44.28) rounded out the squad.

Inside Alumni Field House, Joey Kim tied for third place in the pole vault, clearing 3.35 meters (10 feet, 11.75 inches) to match his career best from the indoor season.

Mark Tringas was a standout in the long jump, posting a personal-best leap of 6.56 meters (21 feet, 2.65 inches). Juzang placed third with a jump of 6.24 meters (20 feet, 5.75 inches), and Ma was eighth at 5.58 meters (18 feet, 3.75 inches).

In the throwing events, Tiger Wang finished fifth in the shot put with a toss of 10.04 meters (32 feet, 11.25 inches). He also placed seventh in the javelin with a mark of 39.68 meters (130 feet, 2 inches).

Haverford will next send Peter LaRochelle and Reza Eshghi to compete at the Penn Relays on Thursday evening, with the 5,000 meters slated for 9 p.m. April 24 during Distance Night at Franklin Field. Action continues Friday afternoon with the 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relay squads in competition.
