PHILADELPHIA — The Haverford College men's track team competed in two events at the 129th Penn Relays on Friday, as action on the track continued at historic Franklin Field on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.
The Fords opened with the College Men's 4x100 relay, where Zenas Boamah, Niko Beros, Mark Tringas and Samuel Lin finished in 43.85 seconds to place 20th overall out of 21 teams in the prelims. Haverford finished seventh in Heat 1, which was won by Catholic University in 41.18 seconds.
Next up was the College Men's Pop Haddleton Centennial/MAC 4x400 relay, an event named after longtime Haverford men's cross country and track & field coach A.W. "Pop" Haddleton, who began the Haverford program in the 1920's. In the event, held under the lights, the quartet of Reef Kirchner, Vir Goyal, Nico Greene and Thomas Fendig clocked a time of 3:27.90 to place eighth overall. Susquehanna won the race with a time of 3:15.14.
The Penn Relays, the oldest and largest continuously running track and field competition in the United States, features elite athletes from high school through the professional ranks.
Haverford now shifts its focus to the 2025 Centennial Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, set for next weekend at Ursinus College. Action is slated to begin on Friday night and continues from May 2-4.
