ST. MARY'S MD. – The Haverford College women's soccer team recorded its second straight shutout  victory with a 1-0 road win at St. Mary's (Md.) on Sunday. Kendra Griesman scored her second goal of the season early in the second half as she fought her way through a crowded box following a corner kick for her second goal of the season.

Griesman's goal came just 2:42 into the second half shortly after one of Haverford's seven corner kick attempts that the team earned. The Fords had another great opportunity on a corner kick attempt later in the second half, but a beautifully struck header from Katie Safter was denied only after a full extension diving stop by the St. Mary's goalie during the 75th minute of play.

Haverford controlled the tempo throughout the match, racking up an 11-6 advantage in shots while the defense allowed St. Mary's just one corner kick attempt. Griesman finished with a team-high four shots, putting three of those attempts on goal. Hannah Krapes and Sydney West also recorded multiple shot attempts for the Fords.

Ali Weiner and Hannah Friedrich split the time in goal. Weiner got the start and was called on to make just one save, but did so on a close range shot during the opening half. Friedrich picked up her first career victory as she started the second half and made two saves to cap the Fords' shutout.

Women's soccer will now open up its Centennial Conference schedule this Wednesday against Muhlenberg with a 7 p.m. start under the lights. Haverford will be back at home this coming Saturday for a 1 p.m. opening touch against Franklin & Marshall.
