GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Hannah Friedrich tallied her seventh shutout of the season in Haverford's (7-7-2, 4-4-1 CC) 1-0 victory over Gettysburg (10-3-1, 4-3-1 CC) at Clark Field, as the Fords blanked the Bullets despite giving up 16 shots on the night.

Haverford was aggressive early. Within the first five minutes, the Fords earned five corner kicks. Although they didn't capitalize on them, the set pieces didn't allow Gettysburg to get into a rhythm.

The Fords tallied their first shot in the fifth minute, with Alyssa Saito putting one on frame. After that, Haverford was in complete control of the opening ten minutes of the contest. The Bullets came alive around the twelve-minute mark, finally settling into the rhythm of the game. Gettysburg fired off a couple of shots of their own in that early stretch, but Friedrich was up for the challenge, making a pair of critical saves.

Eventually, the pressure created the first real chance for Haverford. In the 20th minute, Celia Page gathered a pass from Alyssa Saito and found herself at the top of the box. She rocketed a shot into the top corner of the net, giving the Fords the early advantage. It was Page's team-leading fifth goal of the season and Saito's fourth assist of the 2021 campaign.

For the rest of the first half, Haverford was in the business of stopping everything that Gettysburg threw at them. Friedrich was called into action immediately following the Page goal. She would earn back-to-back saves to preserve the lead in the 22nd minute. Friedrich would later face a few more shots in the first half, but she saw the attempts go wide or high over the net.

The second half was more of the same. Haverford sprinkled in their shot attempts on a few counterattacks, but it was the Hannah Friedrich show. The senior captain made two more game-saving saves in the 66th and 76th minutes of the game.

The Fords defense was suffocating and made it difficult for any Gettysburg players to get clean looks at the goal. But, in the end, the one goal proved to be enough to hold on and get three points on the road in a congested Centennial Conference standings.

Page led the team with three shots. Jaclyn Corbin and Liv McMillan each notched two shots. The Fords now sit sixth in the conference with 13 points and have an upcoming matchup against conference rivals Swarthmore, who sit above them in fourth. The Fords will host the Garnet for the regular-season finale and Senior Day on Saturday, October 30, at home on Walton Field with a 12 p.m. kickoff.
