HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's soccer team (2-0-1) remained undefeated on the young 2022 season, as the squad erupted for an eight-goal outburst in an 8-0 blanking of Delaware Valley (2-2) on Walton Field Wednesday afternoon. The prolific offensive output included a dominating 47-5 edge in shots, as the Fords posted the third-most shot attempts in program history. Haverford also tied for the fourth-most assists in program history with seven helpers on the day.

The eight-goal performance was tied for the fifth-most tallies in program history, and the most since also knocking home eight against Kalamazoo on September 11, 2005. Ashley Chun was seemingly unstoppable on Wednesday as she tallied a hat-trick and added an assist on Alyssa Saito's 73rd minute strike to finish the day in first on the squad with seven points. The stellar output is the fourth-best in program history.

Chun subbed on in the 22nd minute, and just 38 seconds later, she was on the scoresheet as she took an assist from fellow recent substitute Phoebe Garfield and slotted one home from the top of the 18. On Haverford's very next shot, it was stalwart senior Celia Page taking an assist from Sarah Klink and sliding in a goal to double the advantage at 2-0.

Garfield again found Chun with a deflected pass that knocked around the box and found the waiting foot of the senior in the 28th minute. Chun craftily converted for the third goal of the game. Sadie Kim then tallied right out of the halftime gates as Klink set up the shot with a nice pass across the box in the 48th minute. Klink then tallied herself in the 56th, taking an assist from Page and rocketing a salvo off a Delaware Valley defender and into net.

Chun then completed the hat-trick, the first for a Haverford player since Leanne Ludwick had three against Eastern in 2019, with her 62nd minute screamer that floated over the goalkeeper and into the top of the goal after a strong feed from Nora Gaby-Biegel to set things up.

The Fords still had two more goals left to go in the onslaught, with Chun tallying an assist with a one-touch pass to Saito in the 73rd minute, and Grace Haskell converting a penalty kick in the 81st.

Keira Prince and Kim each notched a game-high seven shots while Chun and Liv McMillan each had six shots each. Garfield and Klink each had two helpers. Claire Cywes picked up her second shutout of the season, making four saves in her 90 minutes in goal.

A valiant effort from Olivia Sherwood resulted in 12 saves while the Aggies defenders also cleared a pair of Haverford shots off the goal line.

The two sides were meeting for the first time since 1988. The Fords now return to action on Saturday for the first road action of the 2022 season. Haverford heads to Lebanon Valley for a 1 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, September 10.
